Goa Declares Paid Holiday for Bye-Elections

In accordance with Section 40A(1) of the Goa Panchayat Raj Act, 1994, the Government of Goa has officially declared Saturday, 2nd August 2025 (Sravana 11, Saka 1947) as a paid holiday in view of the bye-elections to be held in:

  • Ward No. IV, Village Panchayat Arambol, Pernem Taluka, North Goa
  • Ward No. II, Village Panchayat Durbhat, Ponda Taluka, South Goa

🗳️ Purpose of the Holiday

The notification has been issued to facilitate eligible voters to exercise their right to vote during the polling day for the local panchayat bye-elections.

👥 Who Is Eligible for the Paid Holiday?

The paid holiday is applicable to workers only if they are voters in the respective wards and belong to the following categories:

(iii) Private industrial/commercial workersIncluding factories, offices, and shops

(v) Casual/daily wage workersEmployed in any business, trade, or industrial establishment

📌 Additional Notes

  • This holiday is in addition to regular public holidays notified under Govt. Notification No. 37/3/2024-GAD-III/4247 dated 22/10/2024.
  • It applies only to workers who are registered voters in the above-mentioned wards.

Action for Employers

All private and public sector employers are expected to comply by granting a paid day off to eligible employees to participate in the democratic process.
