AP Issues New Cost of Living Index for Minimum Wage Workers

The Government of Andhra Pradesh  through the Commissioner of Labour, has issued a notification revising the Cost of Living Index (COLI) applicable to employees engaged in scheduled employments across the state.

The updated Consumer Price Index (CPI) figures—used to calculate the Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) are now in effect from April 1, 2025.

Key Points :

  • The CPI data reflects the average rise in prices during the half-year ending December 2024.
  • The revised COLI applies to workers in employments listed under Part I and Part II of the Schedule to the Minimum Wages Act, 1948.
  • The revised COLA will impact the minimum wages payable across various sectors in the state.

This adjustment is part of the government’s ongoing effort to ensure wages keep pace with inflation, safeguarding the real income and purchasing power of industrial and agricultural workers.

The updated COLI figures are now enforceable from April 1, 2025
