BIS Announces New Amendment to LPG Valve Fittings Standard

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), under the Department of Consumer Affairs, has officially notified an important amendment to the Indian Standard IS 8737:2017, which covers valve fittings for use with liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders of up to 250 litres water capacity.

As per this notification issued on 13th May 2025,the Amendment to this standard has been established and will come into effect on 8th May 2025. This amendment updates the specifications for valve fittings, ensuring safety and quality compliance for LPG users and manufacturers.

The current version of the standard without this amendment will remain valid until 7th November 2025, after which compliance with the updated amendment will be mandatory.
