BIS Issues Amendments to Indian Standards on Wheelchairs

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) on May 16 , 2025 under the Department of Consumer Affairs, has officially established amendments to key Indian standards related to wheelchairs and rehabilitation equipment, effective from May 8, 2025. The changes were notified in accordance with Rule 15(1) of the BIS Rules, 2018.

These updates aim to enhance the safety, usability, and design specifications of mobility aids for individuals with disabilities.
