BIS Issues New Amendments to Key Automotive Standards

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), under the Department of Consumer Affairs, has announced amendments to critical Indian automotive standards on May 16, 2025. These amendments were officially established on May 5, 2025, under the authority of Sub-rule (1) of Rule 15 of the BIS Rules, 2018.

The notification reflects BIS’s ongoing efforts to align national automotive testing and safety protocols with updated technologies and international practices. Industries are given a 6-month window, as the earlier standards will remain valid until November 4, 2025.
