The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has issued a directive to the Member Secretaries of State Pollution Control Boards (SPCBs) and Pollution Control Committees (PCCs) in Delhi-NCR, mandating the installation of only CSIR-NPL certified Online Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (OCEMS) in air polluting industries.
This directive references previous CPCB directions dated October 1, 2025, and October 9, 2025, regarding the installation and connectivity of OCEMS in air polluting industries operating in the NCR-Delhi region.
NPL Certification and Connectivity
The CPCB previously designated CSIR-NPL (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research- National Physical Laboratory), Delhi, as the national verification agency for certifying instruments and equipment used for monitoring air quality emissions.
CSIR-NPL has launched an OCEMS certification scheme and has now certified 21 OCEMS models for various parameters.
SPCBs/PCCs are requested to ensure that air polluting industries in their jurisdiction install only CSIR-NPL certified OCEMS.
Only such certified OCEMS will be permitted for connectivity with the CPCB server.
The list of NPL certified Models and details are available on the CPCB website and will be updated periodically. Industries are requested to visit this web-link regularly for the updated list.
