Delhi Govt: Mandatory SHe-Box Registration for Workplaces

In a continued effort to safeguard women from sexual harassment at the workplace, the Government of NCT of Delhi, through its Department of Women and Child Development (Women Empowerment Cell), has issued a public notice reinforcing compliance with the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.

This legislation ensures the right of every woman—regardless of employment type, role, or organizational hierarchy—to a safe and dignified working environment. The Act is applicable across organized and unorganized sectors, including protection for domestic workers.

SHe-Box: A Digital Solution for Quick Redressal

To strengthen the redressal mechanism, the Government of India has introduced the Sexual Harassment Electronic Box (SHe-Box) — an online complaint platform that offers a single-window access for women to report incidents of workplace sexual harassment.

Upon submission, complaints are automatically forwarded to the concerned authority for redressal, ensuring a transparent and efficient process.

Compliance Now Mandatory for All Organizations

All public sector organizations, private enterprises, and their subordinate offices are now mandated to register on the SHe-Box portal. This registration enables:

  • Streamlined complaint submission and tracking.
  • Creation of a national repository for monitoring cases.
  • Accountability of organizations to respond to complaints swiftly.

This directive also draws support from the Supreme Court’s decision in ‘Aureliano Fernandes vs. State of Goa & Ors’, reinforcing the constitutional responsibility of all employers to provide a safe work environment for women.

How to Comply

Organizations must immediately complete their registration on the portal:

By doing so, they contribute to upholding legal mandates and fostering a culture of respect, safety, and equality in the workplace.
