Employees shall establish their identity through Aadhaar number for availing sickness benefit, pension, gratuity or maternity benefit under the Social Security Code

The Central Government of 30th April, 2021 has commenced the operation of section 142 of the Code on Social Security w.e.f 3rd day of May, 2021. The section provides that an employee shall establish his identity or, as the case may be, the identity of his family members or dependents through Aadhaar number for:

1. Registration as member or beneficiary; or
2. Seeking benefit whether in kind, cash or medical sickness benefit or pension, gratuity or maternity benefit or any other benefit or for withdrawal of fund; or
3. Availing services of career center; or
4. Receiving any payment or medical attendance as Insured Person himself or for his dependents.
