EPFO Acts on Past Dues for Non-UAN Members of Exempt Trusts

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has issued a circular to ensure the timely crediting of past accumulations for non-UAN members belonging to exempted establishments or trusts that have either surrendered or are in the process of surrendering their exemption status.

Key highlights from the circular:

  • Aadhaar Relaxation: The earlier requirement for Aadhaar-based UAN generation has been relaxed via a circular dated April 25, 2025.

  • UAN Generation Tool: A new software feature has been launched in the FO Interface to enable bulk UAN creation for affected members.

  • Mandatory Credit by Deadline: All such non-UAN members’ past accumulations must be uploaded and credited by June 30, 2025.

  • Applicable Cases:
    • Where surrender/cancellation of exemption is already approved or notified.
    • Where proposals for such actions are still under examination.

  • No Withdrawals Yet: Debits (transfers or withdrawals) from these UANs are strictly prohibited until Aadhaar is seeded.

This move is aimed at streamlining the integration of members from exempted setups into the centralized EPFO system, while maintaining checks until full KYC is completed.
