EPFO Allows Housing Advance via Self-Declaration

In a move aimed at simplifying the process for EPF members, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has issued a circular on April 17, 2025, permitting advances under Para 68B(7) based on self-declaration.

The circular clarifies that members can now apply for the housing-related advance under Para 68B(7) by declaring that the withdrawal is being made only after 60 months from the completion date of their dwelling house, and that the application is not linked to any previous withdrawal under the same provision.

This reform eliminates the need for additional documentation, thereby streamlining the process and reducing rejection rates. The EPFO has confirmed that its internal software has already been updated to accommodate these changes.

Field offices and concerned departments have been instructed to process such applications without rejection, provided the member meets all other eligibility criteria.

This update was issued with the approval of the Competent Authority, marking a positive step toward member convenience and faster processing.
