ESI Scheme Extended to Entire Boudh District, Odisha

In a significant move aimed at expanding social security coverage, the Ministry of Labour and Employment has issued a notification dated April 30, 2025, bringing the entire area of Boudh district in Odisha under the ambit of the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) Scheme.

The notification, issued exercises the powers conferred by sub-section (3) of Section 1 of the Employees’ State Insurance Act, 1948. The Central Government has declared May 1, 2025, as the effective date for the implementation of specific provisions of the ESI Act in the district.
