ESIC Expands Medical Benefits to Families in Nagaland

The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has issued a significant notification on May 6 , 2025 to expand its healthcare coverage in Nagaland, offering medical benefits to the families of insured persons. This extension will be effective from May 1, 2025.

This move is executed under Section 46(2) of the Employees’ State Insurance Act, 1948, and in accordance with Regulation 95-A of the ESIC (General) Regulations, 1950.

About Regulation 95-A:

Under Regulation 95-A:

Families become entitled to medical benefits from the date the insured person becomes eligible.

In case of the insured person’s death, benefits continue for the period they would have been eligible, had they

lived.

The State Government, in consultation with ESIC, determines the nature and scale of the medical benefits.

Family details must be recorded in official ESIC forms (Form 4 and Form 4 A)

    This expansion is a crucial step toward improving healthcare access in the northeastern state and enhancing the welfare of workers and their dependents.
