In a key move to enhance healthcare access for workers’ families, the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has announced the extension of medical benefits to the families of insured persons in 15 additional districts of Uttar Pradesh, effective from April 1, 2025.
This decision, notified on May 6, 2025 , has been made under the authority of Section 46(2) of the Employees’ State Insurance Act, 1948, read with Regulation 95-A of the Employees’ State Insurance (General) Regulations, 1950.

About Regulation 95-A:
Regulation 95-A allows ESIC to extend medical benefits to families of insured persons:
- From a date notified in consultation with the State Government.
- The family’s entitlement begins with the insured person’s eligibility and continues even after the insured person’s death, within defined limits.
- The nature and scope of the benefit is decided by the State Government in consultation with ESIC.
- Details of entitled family members are maintained through prescribed ESIC forms (Form 4 and Form 4-A).
This initiative represents another step toward universal social security coverage for industrial and organized sector workers and their dependents across India.
