ESIC Rolls Out Zero Trust Access for Enhanced Security

In a major step toward fortifying its cybersecurity infrastructure, the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has announced the rollout of a Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) framework. The move is aimed at ensuring enhanced security and endpoint compliance across all its digital assets.

As per the circular issued by ESIC, the rollout will involve agent-based ZTNA implementation on all eligible systems—specifically, those with a minimum of 4 GB RAM. The deployment will cover all Regional Offices (RO), Sub-Regional Offices (SRO), ESIC hospitals, and dispensaries.

Key Highlights of the ZTNA Implementation

  • Deployment Deadline:
The rollout is to be completed by July 25, 2025, under the supervision of ICT nodal officers in each unit.
  • Eligible Systems:
All systems with at least 4 GB of RAM are required to be included.
  • Mandatory Reporting:
Heads of accounting units must submit weekly progress reports to designated email addresses by 5:00 PM every Friday. These will be reviewed by the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
  • ZTNA-Based URI Transition:
After the deadline, all public-facing URIs will be transitioned to the new ZTNA framework.
  • BYOD Access:
Access to ESIC systems via Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) will be enabled through the ZTNA URI. This access will be authenticated using LDAP integration and secured with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).

This initiative marks a significant leap in ESIC’s commitment to secure digital transformation, ensuring that its nationwide IT infrastructure is robust, compliant, and future-ready.
