FSSAI Makes PAN Mandatory for Food Business Licenses and Registrations

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued a new order making it mandatory for food business operators (FBOs) to link their Permanent Account Number (PAN) to their FSSAI licenses and registrations. An order stipulating this compliance was issued on November 13, 2024.

Key Points of the Order

All new applications for FSSAI licenses and registrations, as well as renewals and modifications, must include the PAN number of the FBO. This is effective from October 22, 2024.

Existing FBOs whose renewal or modification is not imminent are required to update their PAN details on the FoSCOS portal as soon as possible.

FBOs that do not possess a PAN number must submit a declaration to that effect.

FBOs are advised to keep their contact details, including email ID and mobile number, updated on the FoSCOS portal to facilitate communication from FSSAI.

By linking PAN numbers to FSSAI licenses and registrations, the FSSAI aims to enhance the efficiency of regulatory processes and improve data management.
