Government Clarifies Applicability of Amended Wind Power Project Guidelines

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has issued a clarification regarding the applicability of the amended Guidelines for Development of Onshore Wind Power Projects. The clarification was issued through an Office Memorandum dated August 23, 2024.

The OM states that the amendments introduced on July 4, 2024, will only apply to future wind power projects that are registered with State nodal agencies (SNAs) after that date or after the date notified by the respective State Governments. This ensures a smooth transition for ongoing projects and provides developers with clarity on the regulatory framework applicable to their initiatives.

The amended guidelines aim to streamline the process of developing onshore wind power projects in India and promote renewable energy generation.
