Government of Karnataka has introduced fixed-term workmen in the model standing order

The State Government of Karnataka on 30th June 2020 has notified the Karnataka Industrial Employment (standing orders) amendment rules 2019.

The Amendment brings in changes to the Karnataka Industrial Employment (Standing order) rules 1961 by introducing the term “fixed-term employment” which allows flexibility to the industry to hire and fire easily and is considered to be more flexible than the contract system. Laborers hired under the system are eligible for all statutory relief and benefits as permanent workmen.
