In a significant regulatory move to ensure quality control and consumer protection, the Ministry of Mines has issued the Refined Zinc (Quality Control) Order, 2025 under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
As per the order, all refined zinc products manufactured or sold in India (excluding those for export) must conform to a designated Indian Standard and carry the Standard Mark issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).
This order will take effect six months from the date of publication, making October 17, 2025, the compliance deadline for the industry.
