The tricolor flag has always been more than just fabric; it is a living symbol of India’s journey, its struggles, its victories, and its dreams. Continuing the proud legacy of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Government of India, under the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture, has announced the Har Ghar Tiranga (HGT) Campaign 2025, scheduled to run from 2nd August to 15th August 2025.
This initiative, which first took shape in 2022, has evolved into a deeply participative Janbhagidari movement. It calls upon citizens across the nation to bring the Tiranga—the Indian National Flag—into their homes, institutions, and public spaces to mark the country’s enduring spirit of independence and unity.
A Three-Phase Celebration of National Pride
To ensure wide and meaningful participation, the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign 2025 will be celebrated in three structured phases:
Phase 1 (2nd – 8th August): Awareness generation and outreach. This phase focuses on mobilizing communities, educational institutions, local bodies, and individuals through posters, events, competitions, and digital content encouraging flag adoption.
Phase 2 (9th – 12th August): Flag distribution and readiness. During this phase, citizens are encouraged to procure or make their own flags, and prepare to hoist them at homes, offices, schools, and public buildings.
Phase 3 (13th – 15th August): Hoisting the Tiranga with pride. This final phase culminates in mass flag hoisting across the nation, culminating on Independence Day—a collective tribute to our forebears and our nation’s enduring democratic spirit.
UGC’s Role in Mobilizing Higher Education Institutions
The University Grants Commission (UGC), through a circular issued by Prof. Manish R. Joshi, Secretary, UGC, has urged Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to take the lead in promoting and participating in the campaign. Institutions have been advised to disseminate information among students, faculty, and staff, and to leverage their communication channels—especially social media platforms—to maximize visibility and participation.
Colleges and universities serve as centers of learning, culture, and national consciousness. Their proactive involvement in Har Ghar Tiranga 2025 can deepen the connection between the youth and the ideals that the flag represents—liberty, diversity, unity, and progress.
Rekindling Patriotism, One Flag at a Time
The success of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign in 2022, 2023, and 2024 demonstrated the emotional resonance of this movement. Homes and institutions across India proudly displayed the flag, creating a wave of patriotic fervor that united the nation in spirit.
In 2025, the campaign not only honors that tradition but also deepens our collective resolve to uphold the values enshrined in our Constitution. From children painting flags in classrooms to families hoisting the Tiranga on rooftops, every act of participation becomes a celebration of India’s resilience and unity.
