Haryana Government Announces Increase in Minimum Wages

On October 15, 2024, the Government of Haryana issued an important notification regarding the increase in minimum wages for workers across various sectors. This adjustment, effective from July 1, 2024, reflects the government’s commitment to keeping wage levels in line with the rising cost of living.

Understanding the Changes

The Minimum wages have been refixed from July 1st 2024. This determination is based on the working class consumer price based on an increase/decrease in the index figures, every 6 months , that is twice a year in January and July.

According to Section 5(2) of the Minimum Wages Act, a modest increase of 1.02% has been implemented in the basic wages for workers across various employment categories.

Impact on the Brick Industry

The brick industry has also seen a corresponding rise in basic salaries by 1.02%, effective from July 1, 2024
