India is set to celebrate the 10th International Day of Yoga (IDY) on June 21, 2025, with a special event themed ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health’. The annual observance, which aims to raise awareness about Yoga’s profound potential for improving overall health and wellbeing, will be marked by the ‘Yoga Sangam’ event across the nation.
The International Day of Yoga, celebrated annually on June 21, plays a crucial role in promoting the practice of Yoga among citizens. Yoga is already an integral part of comprehensive primary healthcare initiatives at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAM), where regular group sessions are conducted to foster holistic health. Additionally, mass demonstrations are organized each year on IDY to broadly disseminate the benefits of Yoga.
This year holds particular significance as it marks a decade since the inception of the International Day of Yoga. In line with communications from the Ministry of AYUSH, the theme for IDY 2025, ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health,’ underscores the universal appeal and health benefits of Yoga for the collective well-being of humanity and the planet. Both the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and the Ministry of AYUSH have issued instructions for the nationwide observance of the ‘Yoga Sangam’ event on the designated day.
To effectively track and recognize the numerous events planned across the country, the government has provided a pre-event registration facility on the Ministry of AYUSH’s official Yoga Portal. Event organizers are encouraged to register their initiatives and share details, pictures, and media of their organized events on the portal.
For pre-event publicity, trainings, and communication, a dedicated link has been provided by the Ministry of AYUSH, offering access to publicity collaterals, banners, and other promotional materials.
All Medical Colleges and Institutions under the administrative domain of the National Medical Commission (NMC) have been specifically requested to observe the ‘Yoga Sangam’ event on June 21, 2025. These institutions are also required to submit a report of their events, including the number of participants and two HD quality photographs, to the NMC by 11:00 AM on the same day via a dedicated Google Form link.
