Jute Commissioner Sets Maximum Ex-Factory Price for 580-gram Jute Bags for May 2025

The Office of the Jute Commissioner, under the Ministry of Textiles, has issued a notification on May 9, 2025, officially setting the maximum ex-factory price for two specific types of 580-gram jute bags (‘Type-A’ and ‘Type-B’) for the month of May 2025.

The notification fixes the maximum ex-factory price for both ‘Type-A’ and ‘Type-B’ B-Twill Sacking bags (weighing 580 grams and without linkage) at ₹ 111,392.00 per Metric Ton (MT). This translates to a price of ₹ 6,460.73 per 100 bags.

The specified bags, of size 94cm x 57 cm/HD., with a mass of 580 grams per bag and conforming to the ends per dm and pecks per dm as outlined in BIS Specification IS: 16186:2014, along with any additional identification markings as per existing orders, are mandated for purchase and sale during May 2025.

The notification also stipulates that every bag must be printed or marked with the emblem specified in the PCSO issued by the Jute Commissioner’s office in Kolkata, along with the name of the manufacturing mill and the BIS certification marking. Furthermore, the average minimum breaking strength of the bags must adhere to the aforementioned BIS specification.

It is important to note that the prices fixed in this notification are exclusive of Goods and Services Tax (GST), which will be payable by the purchaser in addition to the stated ex-factory price.
