These categories were finalized following discussions in the Categorization Committee meetings held on February 11, 2025, and February 18, 2025. The committee relied on the CPCB’s Classification of Sectors into Red, Orange, Green, White, and Blue categories (January 2025) for the classification.

The categorization ensures effective management of industries based on their environmental impact and potential for pollution.

This circular serves to ensure that industries are categorized appropriately, allowing for better regulation and environmental management in the state.
