The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) on May 7th 2025 has officially issued the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (Recruitment, Salary and other Terms and Conditions of Service of Officers and other Employees) Amendment Rules, 2025, bringing key changes to recruitment norms for stenographers at the NCLAT.
The amendment, published in the Official Gazette on May 7, 2025, revises Schedule-I, Serial Number 18 of the original 2020 rules, specifically impacting the role of Stenographer Grade-III, which will now be known as Stenographer Grade-II.
🔑 Key Highlights of the 2025 Amendment:
Post Renamed:
“Stenographer Grade-III” is now reclassified as “Stenographer Grade-II.”
Age Limit Increased:
The upper age limit has been revised from 25 years to 27 years.
Relaxation for Government Servants Enhanced:
Government employees can now avail age relaxation up to 40 years, up from the earlier 5-year cap.
Crucial Date for Age Determination Changed:
The key date will now be as advertised by the Staff Selection Commission, instead of the closing date of applications.
Skill Test Norm Revised:
Transcription time has been increased from 40 to 50 minutes on computer (for 10-minute dictation at 80 w.p.m.).
These changes aim to align recruitment procedures with broader government service norms and make the selection process more accommodating for eligible candidates, particularly existing government employees.
The amendment was made under powers granted by Section 418(3) and Sections 466 and 469 of the Companies Act, 2013.
