Ministry of Agriculture Adds New Insecticides to Regulatory Schedule

The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has announced amendments to the Schedule of the Insecticides Act, 1968, with the addition of several new chemical compounds. This update, undertaken after thorough consultation with the Central Insecticides Board, aims to bring new and emerging insecticide formulations under the regulatory purview of the Act.

The following insecticides have been officially inserted into the Schedule of the said Act:

  1. Feneptamidoquin
  2. Metproxybicyclone
  3. Tebufloquin
  4. Pyrimethanil
  5. Tiapyrachlor
  6. Flumethrin

With their inclusion in the Schedule, the manufacture, sale, import, export, transport, distribution, and use of these newly listed substances will now be subject to the stringent regulations and provisions of the Insecticides Act, 1968. This typically entails mandatory registration, adherence to quality control standards, and other regulatory requirements designed to protect public health, environmental safety, and agricultural integrity.
