Nagaland Government Announces Public Holidays for 2025: Important Updates for Government Employees

The Government of Nagaland has officially released its list of public holidays for the year 2025 with a notification issued on October 4, 2024. This announcement provides detailed information for government employees, banks, and other public institutions regarding holidays throughout the year.

1. General Holidays for Government Servants (Annexure I)

The government has outlined a specific list of General Holidays that will be observed across all government offices in Nagaland for government servants in the calendar year 2025. These holidays are mandatory and will be observed across the state’s administrative and public sectors.

2. Restricted Holidays for Government Servants (Annexure II)

In addition to the general holidays, the government has also announced a list of Restricted Holidays. These are days when employees may choose to take leave, but it is not mandatory. The key detail is that each government employee is allowed to avail of up to three restricted holidays from the provided list during the year 2025. This offers flexibility for employees to take time off for personal or cultural reasons.

3. Public Holidays (Annexure III)

The notification further details the Public Holidays for the year. These dates will be observed across the state, and it is important to note that banks and financial institutions will remain closed for public transactions on these dates. This includes holidays observed in government offices, where no public transactions will take place.

4. Bank Closures for Annual Account Closing

In addition to the scheduled public holidays, banks will be closed on April 1, 2025, due to the Annual Closing of Accounts. On this day, no public transactions will be processed in any of the state’s banking or financial institutions.

This notification by the Government of Nagaland ensures that both government employees and the general public are well-informed about the holidays and closures for the year, allowing for better planning and organization in the coming year.
