NEFT/RTGS via Saralsanchar Gets a Tech Upgrade with eKuber 2.0

In a significant step towards modernizing digital payment processes, the Department of Telecommunications (Information Technology Division) has announced an important update for Saralsanchar users regarding NEFT/RTGS transactions. Effective February 22, 2025, all payments made through the Saralsanchar Portal via Bharatkosh will now follow a new protocol, owing to Bharatkosh’s migration to the Reserve Bank of India’s upgraded payment system, eKuber 2.0.

What Changed?

This change was officially communicated through an Office Memorandum (OM) dated February 20, 2025, from the office of the Deputy Controller General of Accounts (Dy CGA), GIFMIS-PFMS Division, New Delhi. The core of this shift lies in the integration of Bharatkosh with eKuber 2.0, which is designed to enhance the efficiency, traceability, and transparency of government transactions.

New Payment Process via Saralsanchar

Saralsanchar users who make payments via NEFT/RTGS will need to adapt to a few key changes starting February 22, 2025:

CPIN Replaces PAO Account Number:
Users will continue to create a deposit slip as per the existing method, but instead of entering the traditional PAO account number, they will now use a unique Challan Payment Identification Number (CPIN) as the beneficiary.

CPIN as Beneficiary:
Whether paying through internet banking or physically at a bank branch, users must add the CPIN as the beneficiary. This CPIN is directly linked to the correct PAO account and IFSC code.

No Manual UTR Updates:
Good news for users—there is no need to manually update UTR numbers on Bharatkosh anymore. Once the transaction is reconciled, UTR details will be automatically updated in the system.

Real-time Reconciliation via eKuber 2.0:
The upgraded system now supports hourly Credit Notifications (CN) and automated Account Statements (AS) confirming fund credits to the government accounts.

Error Handling:
In case of incorrect CPIN entry or mismatched amounts, RBI will reverse the transaction, sending the funds back to the user’s bank account. This ensures that no payments get stuck or misrouted.

Why This Matters

The integration of eKuber 2.0 is a major step in India’s digital transformation journey, especially in how citizens and businesses interact with government platforms. For Saralsanchar users—telecom service providers, infrastructure applicants, and other stakeholders—this translates into faster, more reliable, and more transparent payment processes.

Moreover, this change reduces manual intervention and errors, thanks to automated reconciliation and unique CPIN tagging, which greatly simplify the tracking of government receipts.

If users face issues or have questions about this new process, they are encouraged to raise a support ticket directly on the Saralsanchar Portal. The support team is equipped to address queries related to CPINs, transaction mismatches, or eKuber credit notifications.
