The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade) on April 17 , 2025 has amended the Ammonium Nitrate Rules, 2012, extending the validity and renewal period of licenses from five to ten financial years.

Rule 32 – Period of Validity of License:
- Old Rule: License valid for up to five financial years (ending March 31).
- New Rule: License validity extended to a maximum of ten financial years.
- Import and export licenses remain valid for one year.
Rule 36(1) – Renewal of License:
- Old Rule: Renewable for five years.
- New Rule: Now renewable for up to ten financial years.
- Applies to all licenses except those for import/export.
