Odisha Issues New Minimum Wages with VDA

The Government of Odisha has officially revised the minimum wages for workers across 91 scheduled employments, effective from April 1, 2025. The revision includes the implementation of a Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) based on the rise in the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI) for Industrial Workers.

As per Notification the state has adopted the Minimum Wages Advisory Board’s recommendation to revise the VDA at ₹2.60 per point increase in AICPI (base year 2016=100). The index rose from 139.6 to 143.55, resulting in a 3.95 point increase, and thus, a rounded VDA of ₹10 per day has been added across all worker categories.
