The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has issued a directive to all approved institutions running M.Pharm courses, emphasizing their responsibility for the accuracy of scholar details verification for the GPAT Scholarship on the Pradhan Mantri Scholarship for Pharmacy Post Graduate Studies (PMSPPS) portal. This circular was dated May 22, 2025.
Referring to its earlier circular dated November 26, 2024, and a recent decision by the Executive Committee on April 25, 2025, the PCI has informed institutions that the disbursement of scholarships to qualified scholars has already commenced. In light of this, the Council has mandated strict compliance with specific guidelines to ensure the integrity of the verification process.
A key point of emphasis in the PCI’s directive is the liability of institutions for any misleading information, discrepancies, or misrepresentations identified in the credentials or verification details of scholars on the PMSPPS portal. This accountability extends to cases of duplicity where scholars may be receiving grants under multiple schemes.
The Council has explicitly stated that in such instances, the concerned institution will be held liable for the recovery of the disbursed funds for the respective scholars, and the institution’s approval may also be withdrawn.
Furthermore, the PCI has clarified that institutions will be solely accountable for any errors or inaccuracies discovered in the submitted records, regardless of whether these arise from oversight or other reasons. This includes, but is not limited to, inaccuracies in academic records, enrollment data, financial information, and other official documentation related to the scholar.
To ensure traceability and accountability, the PCI has also mandated that institutions provide permanent and official email addresses and contact numbers for both the individuals responsible for making and checking the verification details. Temporary, personal, or frequently changing contact information will not be accepted. The Council has also warned that repeated requests for edits to contact information will not be entertained once the data has been submitted.
