The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has announced the introduction of a new Leadership Development Programme specifically designed for teachers in pharmacy institutions across the country. This initiative aims to bolster the leadership capabilities of faculty members, a crucial step towards enhancing the quality of pharmacy education in India.
The circular, issued by Anil Mittal, Registrar-cum-Secretary of the PCI, mandates that all institutions approved by the Council under Section 12 of the Pharmacy Act, 1948, or for the conduct of pharmacy courses, are required to depute their teaching faculty for this programme.
As per the directives, the number of faculty members to be trained from each institution varies by the course offered:
- For D.Pharm courses, institutions are to depute 2 faculty members.
- For B.Pharm courses, 4 faculty members are to undergo the training.
- For M.Pharm/Pharm.D specializations, 1 faculty member per specialization is required.
A significant aspect of the programme involves the financial commitment from the institutions. It has been decided that each institution shall sponsor two teaching faculty members, covering their Travel Allowance (TA), Daily Allowance (DA), hotel accommodation, and a registration charge of Rs. 2000 per faculty for attending the programme.
The PCI has informed that the Google Form link for participation in this programme will be shared shortly. Institutions are advised to regularly visit the official PCI website, www.pci.gov.in, for further updates and information regarding the programme.
