PESO Calls for LE-1 License Amendments for Detonators

On April 30, 2025, the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO) issued a formal notice regarding the amendment of existing LE-1 licenses granted under the Explosives Rules, 2008. This update follows the Gazette of India notification published by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry on April 2, 2025, focusing on the phasing out of instantaneous Electric Detonators (Class 6, Division 3).

As per the new directive, manufacturers who wish to continue producing Electric Detonators must apply for an amendment to their existing licenses. This amendment pertains to quantity permissions and will be valid only up to June 30, 2025.
