The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has notified a key amendment to its employee service regulations, expanding the qualification criteria for officer-level posts to include degrees and specializations in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML).
As per the PFRDA (Employees’ Service) (Amendment) Regulations, 2025, published in the Official Gazette, the updated rules allow candidates with the following qualifications to apply for Grade A, B, and C positions under the Technical Stream (Information Systems):
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with specialization in AI and ML
- Master’s in Computer Application (MCA) with specialization in AI and ML
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science with specialization in AI and ML
- Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with a postgraduate qualification (minimum 2 years) in computers/information technology, with AI and ML specialization
These additions are inserted into the Schedule of the 2015 Employee Service Regulations, broadening the scope for tech-focused professionals to enter the regulatory workforce.
This move aligns PFRDA’s recruitment with current technological trends and supports the integration of advanced technologies in pension regulation and administration.
