Prices Fixed For 580gm ‘Type-A & ‘Type-B’ Jute Bags

The Jute Commissioner has issued an order fixing the maximum ex-factory price for 580-gram Type-A and Type-B jute bags. This notification was published on November 22, 2024.

The maximum ex-factory price for both Type A and Type B bags has been set at Rs. 102,774 per metric tonne for bags with 10% linkage and Rs. 101,888 per metric tonne for bags without linkage.

Maximum ex-factory price for 580gm ‘Type-A & ‘Type-B’ Jute Bags

The bags must adhere to the specifications outlined in the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) specification IS: 16186:2014, including dimensions, weight, and breaking strength.

Each bag must be printed with the manufacturer’s name and the BIS certification mark.

The fixed prices are exclusive of GST, which will be an additional cost borne by the purchaser.

This price fixation aims to ensure fair pricing for jute bags and support the jute industry. The move is expected to benefit jute farmers and manufacturers while also promoting the use of eco-friendly jute bags.
