The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has announced a public hearing to discuss the Draft Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (Cross Border Trade of Electricity) (Second Amendment) Regulations, 2024. The draft regulations were initially issued on December 31st, 2024, with a comment period that ended on February 7th, 2025.
The public hearing is scheduled to take place on May 9, 2025, starting at 10:30 AM via online video conferencing.
The CERC has invited a wide range of stakeholders to participate in the hearing, including representatives from:
- Central and State Governments
- Load Despatch Centers
- State Utilities
- Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs)
- Central Transmission Utilities (CTUs)
- State Transmission Utilities (STUs)
- Transmission Licensees
- Trading Licensees
- Power Exchanges
- Individual Experts
- Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs)
- Independent Power Producers (IPPs)
- Financial Institutions
- Consultancy Firms
- Any other interested organizations
The Commission has emphasized the value it places on the views of stakeholders, believing that their participation in the oral proceedings will be instrumental in reaching a just and fair conclusion on the various issues at hand. Attendees are requested to either attend the hearing themselves or depute a responsible officer fully conversant with the subject matter.
To facilitate proper arrangements for the online hearing, interested participants from organizations are requested to communicate the name(s) of their proposed representative(s) to the undersigned by May 5, 2025.
Furthermore, participants intending to make a presentation during the hearing are requested to indicate this in their confirmation. Presentations should be concise, limited to a duration of 5-10 minutes and covered in no more than 8 to 10 slides.
