In a significant development towards inclusive finance, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has announced an extension of compliance timelines for its recent circular on digital accessibility. The circular, originally issued on July 31, 2025 mandates that all regulated entities (REs) under SEBI ensure compliance with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act, 2016 and the associated rules.
This compliance move is aimed at ensuring that digital platforms used by investors—including websites, mobile apps, and portals—are accessible to persons with disabilities (PwDs). Following feedback and requests from market participants for more time, SEBI has now officially extended several key deadlines, along with updating the reporting authorities for Investment Advisers (IAs) and Research Analysts (RAs).
