The Government of Himachal Pradesh has officially announced two local holidays for the year 2025 specifically for the Shimla municipal area. This declaration comes via a notification dated 28th May 2025 from the General Administration Department, as a continuation of a prior notice issued on 18th October 2024.
As per the new notification , the holidays apply to all employees working in Government Offices, Boards, Corporations, and Educational Institutions located within Shimla’s municipal limits.
📌 Key Highlights:
- Holiday 1: Shimla Summer Festival – 5th June 2025 (Thursday)
- Holiday 2: Govardhan Pooja – 22nd October 2025 (Wednesday)
- These holidays are not applicable to daily wage employees.
- They are also not considered holidays under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.
These local holidays recognize cultural and traditional significance while giving government employees time to participate in local events and observances.
