Extension in release of Imported Consignments of Producers of 106 EEE items

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has clarified that the interim arrangement of release of imported consignments of producers of 106 EEE items shall be extended to 15th September, 2023. It may be recalled that CPCB had previously notified that this interim arrangement would be effective till 31st August, 2023.

PWPs directed to complete Generation of EPR Certificates

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has directed all Plastic Waste Processors (PWPs) to complete Generation of EPR Certificates. The EPR Certificates for sales made in 2022-2023 must be generated on the Centralised EPR Portal for plastic packaging by 31st October, 2023.

XXXVIth Analytical Quality Control (AQC) Exercise

The AQC Exercise is aimed at ensuring the accuracy and reliability of environmental data produced by laboratories recognized under the Environmental Protection Act of 1986, as well as the environmental laboratories operated by CPCB, State Pollution Control Boards (SPCBs), and Pollution Control Committees (PCCs).

Guidelines on Management of Pyro-metallurgical Slags (Copper Smelters)

Pyro-metallurgical slags are classified as “High Volume Low Effect Waste” (HVLE waste) under the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016. The management of these waste types will be governed by separate guidelines issued by the Central Pollution Control Board.

CPCB issues Environmental Guidelines for Stone Crushing Units

Stone crushing operation releases a substantial amount of fugitive dust, which not only pollutes the environment, but also poses a health hazards to the workers and the surrounding population. This poses a challenge to maintain the ambient air quality, which is possible if environmental guidelines predetermined by the industry concerned are followed.

Thermal Power Plants must comply with Emission Norms 

MoEF&CC has specified timelines for SO2 compliance for non-retiring Thermal Power Plants for compliance to emission norms. For non-compliance beyond the specified timelines, MoEF&CC has prescribed environment compensation on the non-retiring thermal power plants.
