UGC announces awareness Campaign for Eliminating Gender Based Violence

University Grants Commission has announced awareness Campaign for Eliminating Gender Based Violence from 25th November, 2024 to 10th December, 2024. HEIs are requested to conduct programs highlighting initiatives of Government in combating gender-based violence and raising awareness about the rights and entitlement of women. The suggestive activities, inter alia, may include:

  1. Raise awareness on Emergency Response (112), Women Helpline (181) and Child line (1098) for quick access to services.
  2. Awareness on filing Domestic Incident Report (DIR) under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act and complaints on SHe-Box under SH Act.
  3. Conduct workshops and seminars to raise awareness on ‘the Domestic Violence Act 2005’, ‘The Sexual Harassment Act 2013’, ‘POCSO Act 2012’. ‘Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023’, and special rights under ‘Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023’ including Victim Compensation etc.
  4. Enhance awareness on confidential reporting through the SHe Box portal and get redressal effectively.
  5. Conduct workshops aimed at teachers and students to educate them about gender equality, consent, good touch bad touch, healthy relationships, upholding dignity of women and girls and respectful behaviour.
  6. Plan and launch an effective social media campaign using hashtags and informative content to raise awareness about women’s rights.
  7. Host Webinar on prohibition of Child Marriage, Prevention of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace and Prevention of Domestic Violence.

HEIs are requested to conduct an Awareness Campaign from 25th November, 2024 to 10th December, 2024 and submit a consolidated but brief report of activities conducted to the Gender Sensitization Section of UGC at gssec.ugc@nic.in by 13 th December, 2024.
