The Government of Uttar Pradesh has announced a revision in the minimum wages for workers employed in vacuum pan sugar mills across the state, effective from April 1, 2025. This change comes in accordance with Government Notification No. 1305/36-2-2022-8/2004-TC dated June 29, 2022, which mandates a Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) linked to the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI), base year 1960=100.
As per the latest notification, the VDA is calculated on the average AICPI of the months November 2024, December 2024, and January 2025. The index values for these months are as follows:
- November 2024: 9499.22
- December 2024: 9446.61
- January 2025: 9413.73
The average of these figures stands at 9453.18 points. This index average will serve as the benchmark for the VDA applicable to all workers in the vacuum sugar industry from April 1, 2025, to June 30, 2025.
This update ensures fair compensation in line with inflationary trends and demonstrates the government’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding worker welfare in key industrial sectors.
