Update for Dental Colleges Regarding NEET-UG 2024 BDS Admissions

The Dental Council of India (DCI) has issued a public circular revising the timelines for upload of data of students admitted to Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) Programs. This circular was dated September 20, 2024.

It may be recalled that the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) had made revisions to the original NEET-UG 2024 online counselling schedule for MBBS/BDS/B.Sc. (Nursing) seats.

As per these revisions, the last date for students to join their BDS courses has been extended to November 5, 2024.

However, the academic year for BDS programs will still commence on October 1, 2024.

Data Upload Requirement for Dental Colleges

Dental colleges must upload details of students admitted to their BDS program for the 2024-25 academic session on the DCI website.

The deadline for uploading student data is November 5, 2024 (12:00 Midnight).

Uploading student information after the deadline can lead to penalties under the Dentists Act, 1948 and Dentists (Amendment) Act, 1993.

Uploading Instructions

Colleges are encouraged to upload student data progressively after each counselling round instead of waiting for the last minute.

Uploads should only include details of genuinely admitted students. The DCI will penalize colleges found providing false or incorrect information.

Only students uploaded on the DCI portal will be eligible for registration with State Dental Councils/Tribunals.

Support and Communication

Dental colleges can contact the DCI for technical assistance at secy-dci@nic.in or 011-40194297.

All concerned competent authorities are urged to ensure dental colleges comply with these regulations.

The DCI will not accept student details submitted by email, hard copy, or any other format besides the online portal.

Requests for deadline extensions due to technical difficulties or other reasons will not be considered. Colleges are advised to prepare accordingly to avoid delays.
