West Bengal Shifts Professional Tax Return Filing Online

On May 7, 2025 in a significant move to streamline tax administration, the Government of West Bengal has issued an order introducing a new online system for the submission of professional tax returns, effective immediately (i.e from May 7 , 2025).

As per the order return filers are now required to complete the following process online:

📝 New Submission Procedure:

Download the Return Page from the designated portal.

Sign the Return manually.

Upload the Signed Return using the link next to the Acknowledgement and Return section.

Do Not Upload:

  • Acknowledgement copy
  • Challans

No Hard Copy of the return is to be submitted at any tax office.

    This new directive is part of the government’s initiative to digitize tax compliance and reduce paperwork.

    🔔 Important Reminder:

    Filers must ensure they only upload the signed return, and not any unrelated documents like acknowledgements or payment challans, to avoid processing delays.

    This change aims to increase transparency, reduce physical handling, and simplify the filing experience for both professionals and businesses across West Bengal.
