MoHFW issues Clinical Guidance on Diabetes Management at COVID-19 Patient Management Facility

The Guidance Note at the very outset states that every patient, at the time of admission, must be screened for hyperglycemia by a glucometer, with at least two capillary blood glucose values. Secondly, every patient with diabetes must be started on diabetic diet which must be strictly adhered to in terms of quantity and timing. Furthermore the Guidance Notes deals in detail with the management of diabetic treatment, including directions concerning use of Oral Antihyperglycemic Drugs, initiation of Basal-bolus insulin regimen, use of intravenous insulin infusion, among others.

NPPA streamlines procedures for application submissions to promote Ease of Doing Business

Forms I and Applications for special price for packaging under the Drugs (Price Control) Orders, 2013 can now be submitted online through email to a specified email ID. The notification stipulates for a confirmatory email and a means to check the status of these applications on the NPPA website. However submissions of Forms-II/ Forms-III and Forms-V will follow the existing procedure of submission on the Integrated Pharmaceutical Database Management Systems (IPDMS). On the other hand, Form-V will now be submitted online as well through email to a specified email ID. Furthermore, all pharmaceutical associations are required to upload the Uniform Code of Pharmaceutical Marketing Practices on their websites. The notification provides details that must be included in this regard.

The Government of Delhi notifies the Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) (Amendment) Rules, 2020

The Amendment provides that an application for registration of authorized user must be made to the Registrar in Form GI-3 by the proposed authorized user. This application must be accompanied by a statement of case detailing how the applicant claims to be the producer of the registered geographical indication. Prior to this amendment, such an application was to be made jointly by the registered proprietor and the proposed authorized user. Furthermore, the Statement of Case had to be accompanied by an affidavit. The Amendment also significantly reduces the fees payable under these Rules. Furthermore, amongst other changes, the Amendment does away with the need for an unmounted representation of the geographical indication to accompany a request for duplicate or further copies of the certificate of registration.

Government of Delhi amends the special procedure previously notified for corporate debtors

The class of persons that were previously notified will not include corporate debtors who have furnished statements and returns under the Delhi Goods and Service Act, 2017 for the tax period before the appointment of the IRPs/ RPs. Also, the time period for registration of such person is now stipulated as with 30 days of the appointment of IPRs/ RPs or by 30th June 2020, whichever is later. Prior to this, the specification of the date of 30th June was not provided.

Labour Ministry extends public utility service status for products related to oil.

The public utility status on services engaged in manufacture or production of mineral oil (crude oil), motor and aviation spirit, diesel oil, kerosene oil, fuel oil, diverse hydrocarbon oils and their blends including synthetic fuels, lubricating oils and the like, which is covered under items 26 of the First Schedule to the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 for a period of six months with effect from 29th August 2020.

FSSAI re-operationalises limits to formaldehyde in fish and requirements for hygienic and sanitary conditions for fish and fish products

The limit of formaldehyde has been fixed for various species of fishes based on their classification into Group I (Marine Fishes), Group II (Marine fishes) or Group III (freshwater fishes). Furthermore, the Regulations prescribe for for best practices to be followed by moving street food vendors and stationary street food vendors. For this purpose, it lists two separate sets of practices for both types of vendors. These practices are intended to ensure hygiene and safety of the fish being sold. It also stipulates for specific requirements to be complied with by establishments engaged in handling, processing, storing, transporting, manufacturing, packaging and distributing fish and fish products.
