The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways notifies the Central Motor Vehicles (Eight Amendment) Rules 2020

The Amendment Rules stipulates for a minor change to additional safety measures required in relation to motor vehicles. The change is specifically in respect of the first – aid kit to be carried in a motor vehicle. The amendment now omits the requirement of carrying a tube of Feracrylum of 1% gel in the kit. However, a kit comprising of a tube of antiseptic cream containing 0.5% of Centrimide B.P. in a non-greasy base, sterilised dressings, sterilised elastic plaster, waterproof plaster, gauze and an elastic bandage for wounds and burns must still be carried in the vehicle.

CBIC revises tariff rates of specified imported goods

By virtue of this notification, most of the tariff values of specified imported goods have been enhanced slightly. These goods include crude palm oil, refined, bleached and deodorised (RBD) palm oil, crude palmolein, brass scrap (all grades), etc. In Table 2, gold and silver as is specified in the notification have also undergone an increase in tariff values.

DGFT clarifies its policy on re-validation to export authorizations for technology or software transfer

The DGFT has categorically elucidated that export obligations in technology or software cannot be quantified in terms of item/ value of exports. As a result, it will not allow re-validation to such export authorizations. However, with the aim of ensuring that the exports do not deteriorate, a single extension of six months will be granted as a one-time relief. This will apply to all SCOMET export authorizations involving technology transfer that expire by 30th September 2020. From now onwards, SCOMET export authorizations for transfer of technology/ software under any category will be valid only for 24 months or as per the period specified in the Handbook of Procedures of the Foreign Trade Policy of 2015-2020.

Goa Registration of Tourist Trade (Amendment) Rules, 2020

The Goa Department of Tourism vide notification dated August 27, 2020, has published the draft Goa Registration of Tourist Trade (Amendment) Rules, 2020 applicable to Goa, Daman and Diu. The objections or suggestions to the said draft rules may be forwarded to the Director, Directorate of Tourism, 1st Floor, Paryatan Bhavan, Patto, Panaji, Goa, before the expiry of said period of thirty days from the date of publication of this Notification in the Official Gazette (August 27, 2020).
