Draft Digital Personal Data Protection Bill 2022

The bill shall provide the security practices and procedures that a body corporate or any person collecting, receiving, possessing, storing, dealing or handling information on behalf of the body corporate is required to observe for protecting personal data of users.

Policies of the Government aimed at ensuring an Open, Safe and Trusted and Accountable Internet for its users

The Central Government, in exercise of powers conferred by the IT Act, has made the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. These rules cast specific obligation on intermediaries, including social media intermediaries, to observe due diligence and provide that if they fail to observe such due diligence, they shall no longer be exempt from their liability under law for third-party information or data or communication link hosted by them.

Central Government has undertaken a series of reform measures to promote India’s upcoming drone industry

The Government is utilising services of Drone service providers for vaccine delivery, inspection of oil pipelines and power transmission lines, anti-locust operations, agricultural spraying, survey of mines, land mapping under SWAMITVA scheme for issuance of digital property cards, etc. Drone Training Schools have also been set up in various States which have the potential of being a game changer in the promotion and development of drone applications.

Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (Insurance Intermediaries) (Amendment) Regulations, 2022

The Insurance Marketing Firms (IMF) shall engage Insurance Sales Persons (ISP) for the purpose of soliciting and procuring insurance products for a maximum of six Life insurers, six General insurers, and six Health insurers at any point of time, under intimation to the Authority. Provided that any change in the engagement with the insurers shall be governed by the terms of the agreement entered into between the Insurance Marketing Firm and the insurer, with suitable arrangements for servicing existing policyholders by the concerned insurer, in case of cancellation/ termination/ discontinuity of agreement.

RBI Statement on Developmental and Regulatory Policies

The scope of BBPS shall be expanded to include all categories of payments and collections, both recurring and non-recurring in nature.
