TRAI extends timeline for comments on its Consultation Paper

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has issued a press release extending the timeline for comments on its consultation paper “Regulating Converged Digital Technologies and Services – Enabling Convergence of Carriage of Broadcasting and Telecommunication services. .

Advice imparted on UCC Detect System to Access Providers

To curb the menace of UCC, TRAI issued the Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference Regulations, 2018 on 19th July 2018. It is sought that all access providers are brought together on it with respect to UCC detect solutions.

What Happens to an In-Operative PAN?

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has issued a notice listing the consequences of an in-operative Permanent Account Number (PAN). These consequences shall take effect from 1st July, 2023 and continue till the PAN becomes operative.

Closure of ESIC Annual Accounts by Video Conferencing

The Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has issued a notice stating that the annual accounts for the financial year 2022-2023 will be closed by video conferencing. ESIC has provided a schedule for the video conference and the main points of discussion.

Income-tax (Fourth Amendment) Rules, 2023

The amendment provides that where a person, who has been allotted the permanent account number as of July 01, 2017, and is required to intimate his Aadhaar number under sub-section (2) of section 139AA, has failed to intimate the same on or before March 31, 2022, the permanent account number of such person shall become inoperative, and he shall be liable for payment of the fee. 

All Telecom Service Providers (TSPs) to report major network outages to TRAI

All incidences of major network outages affecting the telecom services to the entire consumers of a district (revenue district as defined by the Union/State Government) continuously for a period of more than 4 hours shall ne reported within 24 hours of their occurrence, in the format specified in the Direction.

The Ministry of Labour & Employment had issued Model Welfare Scheme for the BOC Workers with guidelines to provide for life & disability cover, health & maternity cover, financial assistance for education of the wards of BOC Workers, transit accommodation, skill development and awareness programmes.
