Telangana Government to bring in ‘New Power (Electricity) Policy’

Chief Minister propounded the need to implement a comprehensive power policy in Telangana State after conducting a detailed study of the existing power policies adopted by various state governments and holding discussion with Energy experts and in the State Legislative Assembly. Chief Minister discussed the issues of power consumption, supply of 24 hours uninterrupted power, power generation by the companies, measures for new power generation units, 200 units free power supply under the Gruha Jyothi scheme with the officials and the Ministers.

Maharashtra Goods and Services Tax (Second Amendment) Act,

“online money gaming” means online gaming in which players pay or deposit money or money’s worth, including virtual digital assets, in the expectation of winning money or money’s worth, including virtual digital assets, in any event including game, scheme, competition or any other activity or process, whether or not its outcome or performance is based on skill, chance or both and whether the same is permissible or otherwise under any other law for the time being in force. The following clause shall be inserted, namely specified actionable claim” means the actionable claim involved in or by way of betting, casinos, gambling, horse racing, lottery or online money gaming.

Electricity (Amendment) Rules, 2024

The amendment rules have inserted three new rules, numbered 21, 22 and 23. The prior rule 21 has been re-numbered as 24. These rules seek to address various aspects of power generation, transmission, and open access charges. These amendments aim to streamline the power sector, encourage investments, and enhance operational efficiency.

New Coastal Aquaculture Authority Rules, 2024 Published

These rules have replaced the Coastal Aquaculture Authority Rules, 2005. They introduce comprehensive guidelines and procedures for the regulation of coastal aquaculture units and activities. These rules emphasize the importance of responsible aquaculture practices, balancing economic interests with ecological preservation. The rules were notified on January 9, 2024 and have come into force on that same date.

BIS Revises Standards for Footwear and Textiles

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has introduced certain standards for footwear and textiles. These notifications were published on January 10, 2024. These standards have been established on January 4, 2024 and their previous versions will stand withdrawn as per the dates mentioned in the notification.
