UGC mandates compliance with guidelines for admission and creation of supernumerary seats for international students
Implementation of these guidelines will facilitate smooth and viable admission of international students in HEIs of India and moreover, a favorable environment will be created for attracting international students to Indian HEis and to make India, a preferred destination for international students.
District level Anti – Ragging Committee
This District level Committee should hold preparatory meetings during the summer vacation meetings to take stock of the state of preparedness of each institution and their compliance with the policies and directions or guidelines of the appropriate bodies, the university/State/ Central authorities; and this Court’s guidelines in regard to curbing the menace of ragging.
No Student Visa will be issued to foreign nationals for distance learning
UGC has directed HEIS recognized/entitled to offer ODL programmes to enroll any foreign nationals in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) programmes. Accordingly, only learner residing in India may be enrolled in ODL programmes in compliance to the territorial jurisdiction for all the activities of learner.
UGC has cautioned that individuals/organizations are offering online programmes/courses with acronyms/abbreviated forms similar to recognized degrees
Stakeholders are, therefore, advised to ascertain the validity of an online programme before applying or taking admission to any online programme.
UGC have requested educational institutions to step up anti-ragging mechanism
UGC have requested educational institutions to step up anti-ragging mechanism by way of adequate publicity through various mediums; constitution of Anti-Ragging committee and Anti-Ragging squad, setting up of Anti-Ragging Cell, installing CCTV cameras at vital points, Anti-Ragging workshops and seminar, updating all websites with nodal officers’ complete details, alarm bells etc. Regular interaction and counseling with the students, identification of trouble triggers and mention of Anti-Ragging warning in the institution’s E-prospectus and E-information booklets/brochures must be ensured.

Medical Colleges Risk Missing Out on New Courses Due to Late Filings
The Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) has categorically emphasized that all compliance reports and SAFs for both UG and PG courses must be submitted by April 30, 2024. Applications received after this date will not be processed for the 2024-25 academic year, and colleges risk disapproval without further communication.
Portal For NBEMS Credential Verification
The Credential Verification Online Portal (CVOP) is an online platform accessible through the NBEMS website. Organizations like employers, public authorities, and credential verification agencies can use the CVOP to submit verification requests for NBEMS-issued credentials. Candidates seeking verification of their NBEMS credentials will need to pay the required fee through the NBEMS Miscellaneous Fee Payment Portal before the organization can submit a verification request on their behalf.
Clarification on Cardiothoracic Surgery Qualifications
Holders of both, DNB (Cardiothoracic Surgery) and DrNB (Cardio Vascular & Thoracic Surgery), are trained and qualified surgeons. Both qualifications encompass all aspects of the sub-specialty as per the curriculum prescribed, including vascular surgery.
