West Bengal Governments New GST Amendment

On July 16, 2024, the Government of West Bengal revised the minimum wages for employees in 30 scheduled employments. The updated rates will be effective from July 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024.

Haryana Government Issues New GST Amendment

On July 15, 2024, the Government of Haryana amended notification No.36/ST-2, dated June 30, 2017, regarding agricultural farm produce under GST. The update clarifies that packages of agricultural produce larger than 25 kilograms or 25 liters will not be considered “pre-packaged and labelled” for GST purposes.

Government Of Bihar Issues New GST Notification

On July 15, 2024, the Government of Bihar amended notification No.2/2017-State Tax (Rate), dated June 29, 2017. The amendment states that agricultural produce packaged in quantities greater than 25 kilograms or 25 liters will not be considered “pre-packaged and labelled” under GST rules.

Draft Rules On Radar Equipment For The Measurement Of The Speed Of Vehicles

These draft rules called as Legal Metrology (General) (Amendment) Rules, 2024 state that all radar equipment for measuring vehicle speed must be verified and stamped within one year of installation. The construction requirements specify that the radar indicators must be easily readable and the speed range should cover 30 km/h to 150 km/h. Additionally, the radar must be well-built for sufficient strength and stability

These rules apply to digitally indicating automatic grain moisture meters that directly display moisture content and outline the requirements for approval of grain moisture meters used in commercial transactions of cereal grains and oilseeds. These rules address the storage of measurement data, including authenticity and integrity requirements for legally relevant external data.

The Consultative Committee meeting for the Ministry of Steel was convened to discuss the progress on the first-of-its kind novel initiative by the Ministry of Steel and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to introduce branding and labelling of ‘Made-in-India’ steel products in the global market. Apart from making Indian steel products more attractive to buyers, this would also ensure standardized quality of goods.
