The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has extended the deadline for filing annual reports on plastic waste management. This extension was granted through a public notice dated May 13, 2024.
Producers, Importers & Brand Owners (PIBOs) and Plastic Waste Processors (PWPs) are required to submit annual reports by March 31st as per recent amendments to the Plastic Waste Management (PWM) Rules.
The CPCB acknowledges that the EPR portal for plastic packaging underwent maintenance for security upgrades in January-March 2024, limiting access during this period.
Considering this downtime, the CPCB has extended the deadline for filing annual reports for the financial year 2022-23 to May 31st, 2024.
All PIBOs who haven’t submitted their reports are advised to do so by the new deadline to avoid penalties.
After May 31st, 2024:
- Annual reports will be auto-filled on the portal.
- PIBOs and PWPs will be subject to a maximum Environmental Compensation (EC) for late filing, depending on their category.
The CPCB urges all PIBOs and PWPs to ensure their annual reports are submitted on the EPR portal within the stipulated timeframe.
